Your QA context, without leaving the ticket
SmartRuns for Jira adds an issue panel to the Jira issue view with four tabs — Tests, Plans, Runs and Defects. Each tab lists the SmartRuns items already linked to that issue with a live count badge, so anyone opening the ticket can see exactly what has been tested and what is still open. When you need to add something, the app links you straight into SmartRuns with the issue pre-attached.
Tests
Every SmartRuns test case linked to the issue, with its current status at a glance.
Plans
The test plans that cover this issue, so you know what is scheduled to be verified.
Runs
Recent test runs tied to the issue, with pass / fail progress for the work in flight.
Defects
Defects raised against the issue, with severity and state right next to the ticket.
Requirements
A SmartRuns account
An active workspace at smartruns.io where your tests, plans, runs and defects live.
Jira Cloud admin
Admin rights on your Jira Cloud site to install the app from the Atlassian Marketplace and complete the one-time configuration.
Install from the Atlassian Marketplace
Find SmartRuns for Jira
SmartRuns for Jira is a free app distributed through the Atlassian Marketplace. The public listing is coming soon — until then, ask us for an install link at support@smartruns.io.
Install to your site
As a Jira Cloud admin, choose Get app / Install and confirm. The app is native Atlassian Forge, so it runs inside Atlassian's infrastructure — there is nothing to host yourself.
Continue to configuration
Once installed, open the SmartRuns admin page to connect your workspace — covered in the next section.
Connect your SmartRuns workspace
A one-time setup on the app's admin page.
Enter your SmartRuns domain
On the SmartRuns admin page in Jira, enter your SmartRuns domain (for example, your-team.smartruns.io).
Generate an API token
In SmartRuns, go to Settings → Integrations and generate an API token.
Paste the token
Paste the token back into the Jira admin page. It is stored encrypted in Atlassian Forge app storage.
Set optional filters
Optionally restrict the panel to specific projects or issue types so it only appears where it is relevant.
Save
Save the configuration. The SmartRuns panel now appears on your Jira issues.
Day-to-day on an issue
See linked work
Open any Jira issue and switch between the Tests, Plans, Runs and Defects tabs. Each shows a count badge and the SmartRuns items linked to that issue.
Create, pre-linked
Hit + Create and the app opens the matching SmartRuns page in a new tab — the test repository, a new plan, run or defect — already linked to the issue.
Jump to the detail
Click any listed item to open it in SmartRuns, where you can edit steps, record results, and manage the full record.
Minimal footprint, by design
The app reads only what it needs to link issues and show your SmartRuns data. It makes no changes to your Jira data.
Read-only Jira access
The app never writes to Jira. It reads the issue key, your Jira identity, and project / issue-type names to populate pickers — nothing more.
Four minimal scopes
storage:app, read:jira-work, read:jira-user and read:issue:jira-software. No write, manage, or webhook scopes are requested.
EU-hosted
Data is served from SmartRuns infrastructure in the European Union (AWS EEA regions).
Encrypted end to end
TLS 1.2+ in transit and encrypted at rest — including the tenant domain and API token held in Atlassian Forge app storage.
